I'm interested in a career in healthcare, but unsure about which direction to head. Why should I take a Twin EMT Course?
As an EMT, you will see every corner of the healthcare industry and work alongside nurses, doctors, therapists, and every ancillary health professional on a regular basis. You will also work hand in hand with firefighters and police officers. Most EMTs either continue on to become Paramedics or work as an EMT while studying a different health related profession. Twin Education graduates have gone on to become physicians, nurses, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Paramedics, just to name a few.
How will becoming an EMT help my future studies?
Many colleges will award credits for an EMT license. Many graduate programs (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, etc.) consider EMS experience as critical care experience which greatly increases admission success. We currently employ several EMTs who are enrolled at local universities that are accruing hours and experience for further studies.
Taking an EMT course is essentially a total immersion style introduction to healthcare. You will walk away speaking a different language, medical dramas on TV will become silly and unrealistic, and you will feel completely at ease in all clinical health settings. After working as an EMT, you will work in and discover corners of the health field that you never knew existed.
Will I be able to get a job as an EMT?
The job outlook for an EMT is very good. There are immediate openings in our area. Most EMTs work on ambulances however some work in Emergency Departments, fire departments, on military bases in the US and overseas, contracted with companies overseas, movie sets, pretty much everywhere! Most likely, a recent EMT graduate will work on an ambulance to discover the field and gain experience, then branch out from there.
