Non-Emergency Transportation can be broken down into several categories.
Non-Emergency Ambulance- This service best fits patients who are bed confined, cannot care for themselves alone, or cannot sit in a chair or wheelchair for the duration of the transport. A team of EMS professionals will transport the patient in an ambulance providing care the entire trip while the patient rests on a stretcher. An EMT or Paramedic will actively attend to the medical and personal needs of the patient at their bedside for the duration of the time.
Wheelchair Transportation- Individuals who are wheelchair bound, motorized or manual, that need transportation in a wheelchair van with a lift but can tend to their other needs benefit most from this service. A wheelchair van with one driver will pick up the passenger and help load and secure them into the van. Once they arrive at the destination, the driver will drop off the passenger who then attends to themselves or an accompanying person attends to them. No medical care is provided during a wheelchair van trip.
Medical Taxi- Individuals who simply need a ride from Point A to Point B with little to no assistance from the driver will benefit the most from this type of transportation.
